1. Downloadul este ilegal. FALS. Orice download facut in scop personal nu se pedepseste prin lege. Atat timp cat ceea ce ai downloadat ramane doar la tine pe calculator, nu poti fi acuzat.

2. Conteaza doar ce ai pus in "share", nu tot ce ai pe calculator. ADEVARAT. Cat timp un program, o melodie sau un film nu este pus la dispozitia altora, prezenta sa pe hard nu este incriminata.

3. Daca am cumparat un CD original, il pot pune la share. FALS. Majoritatea produselor sunt insotite de un avertisment prin care cumparatorul este instiintat ca are voie sa foloseasca produsul doar in scop personal. Platita sau nu, o proprietate nu poate fi pusa la dispozitia altora.

4. DC++ si oDC sunt mai "periculoase" decat torrentele. ADEVARAT. Sistemele preferate de politisti sunt cele de tipul peer to peer, legatura directa intre doi utilizatori. Pentru ca in sistemul torrentelor, un user nu uploadeaza o intreaga opera ci o bucata din ea, legislatia este mai dificila, inclusiv la nivel european.

5. Doar cei care pirateaza mult sunt vizati. FALS. Nu exista o limita pe care politistii sa o tolereze. Fie ca pui in share un soft de 100 de MegaBytes sau materiale de 3 TerraBytes, ai la fel de multe sanse sa te trezesti cu mascatii la usa.

Ce ai voie sa pui la comun? Orice este produs de tine. O poza realizata cu camera personala, un video inregistrat de tine, un software dezvoltat de tine sau un program de tip open-source. Produsele de tip open-source se estimeaza ca ar reduce cu 60 de miliarde de dolari cheltuielile utilizatorilor de calculator. Vezi aici o lista a programelor open-source disponibile.

Ce risti? Intre 1 si 4 ani de inchisoare, confiscarea suporturilor pe care sunt stocate materialele si chiar sa fii dat in judecata de cei care detin drepturile de autor. Chiar si in cazul in care se decide neinceperea urmaririi penale, detinatorii de drepturi pot cere despagubiri pe cale civila.
